• Melissa Koger, Accounting Coordinator. Koger ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers, manages customer collections and maintains accurate records and control reports. She boasts more than 15 years of diversified accounting experience and will be based out of the company’s Bonita Springs headquarters.
• Dan Simpler, Superintendent. In addition to onsite supervision of GATES’s projects, Simpler is responsible for quality control, safety and security, project closeout and transition planning. A graduate of Colorado State University, Simpler has 16+ years of construction experience with various project types. He will be based out of the company’s Sarasota office.
• Richard Mahoney, Senior Project Manager. Mahoney is responsible for coordinating projects from the pre-construction and permitting stage through to owner occupancy. With 28 years of diverse construction experience, he specializes in multi-family, hospitality, and retail construction. Mahoney is a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Maryland University and a Florida-licensed General Contractor and Certified Home Inspector. He will work from GATES’s downtown Sarasota office.

]]> Three Students Receive Sands Memorial-REIS Scholarships https://suitelifemagazine.com/three-students-receive-sands-memorial-reis-scholarships/ Fri, 17 Nov 2017 14:41:05 +0000 http://suitelifemagazine.com/?p=4063 The Real Estate Investment Society (REIS) recently awarded the annual Paul Sands Memorial – REIS Scholarship to Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) students Chezanne McLeod, Randy Lopez and Kyle McClimans.

The scholarships each provide $2,500 toward tuition and books, as well as honorary membership in REIS for one year. This allows recipients to attend monthly meetings on a complimentary basis and become acquainted with the commercial real estate industry and business community.

“We support student interest in business by providing financial assistance for their higher education and welcoming them to participate in our meetings and educational programs,” said REIS President Karen Miller. “Our goal is to promote the professionalism of our future business leaders,” thereby enhancing the community’s economic vitality.

McLeod, a junior majoring in legal studies and minoring in real estate, looks forward to working in a real estate law firm. Lopez is a sophomore majoring in pre-finance and McClimans is a junior, majoring in marketing. His objective is to take over his family’s real estate business eventually.

The Paul Sands Memorial – REIS Scholarship is an endowed FGCU scholarship program, funded by REIS Scholarship Foundation, a not-forprofit, registered 501(c)3 corporation. Contributions from REIS and proceeds from the annual Paul Sands Memorial Slaw Dog Invitational Golf Tournament have increased over the years, sustaining the fund.
