Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille is a sponsor of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation’s (SCCF) annual The Cause for Conservation fundraiser, donating $2,000 as the valet sponsor for the Jan. 17 event at the Bailey Homestead Preserve. Proceeds support SCCF’s mission to protect Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems and sanctuary islands.
“The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation’s work is vital to protecting our unique environment and quality of life,” said Joe Harrity, partner with HM Restaurant Group, parent company of Doc Ford’s. “We’re honored to support its important mission.”
Doc Ford’s also sponsored SCCF’s Wines in the Wild fundraiser in November and supports the Sanibel Sea School, an environmental education program for high school students.
Founded in 1967, SCCF is the largest private landowner on Sanibel Island, managing more than 1,800 acres on Sanibel and additional conservation lands throughout Lee County. The organization focuses on conservation, science, education and advocacy.
Originating on Sanibel in 2003, Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille has a long history of philanthropy and community involvement. Since 2012, its annual “Ding” Darling Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament has raised more than $1.57 million for conservation and water-quality research at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. The 14th annual tournament will be held May 15, 2026.
