Benchmark General Contractors Launches Sanibel Residential Project

Benchmark General Contractors broke ground on Gulf Beach Condominium, a 14-unit residential condominium building at 527 E. Gulf Drive on Sanibel Island. The project, awarded by Gulf Beach Condominium Association, marks another significant milestone in the ongoing rebuilding of Sanibel following Hurricane Ian.

The 28,542sf development will rise two stories above parking on a single building footprint and offer residential condominium living for full-time and seasonal residents. Amenities will include a pool and dune crossover ramp, providing direct beach access for residents. Construction is expected to be completed by October 2027.

The project reflects Benchmark’s continued commitment to the long-term recovery and rebuilding of Sanibel, where the company has been a leading construction partner since Hurricane Ian devastated the island in September 2022. Gulf Beach Condominium represents one of several multi-family residential projects the firm has undertaken as the island community works to restore its housing stock and welcome residents back.
