Recently, Chris-Tel Construction was awarded the Sunshine State Safety Award from USF Safety Florida. The award recognizes Florida businesses and employees in all industries who proactively and routinely engage in job safety.
Chris-Tel’s recognition stems from the measures it took to protect employees, subcontractors, pedestrians and vehicular traffic while working on Segment 2 of the Estero Boulevard Improvements project on Fort Myers Beach. The multi-segment infrastructure project is being done for Lee County DOT and encompasses an almost six-mile stretch of the main thoroughfare onto and off the beach.
In addition to improvements to the sanitary sewer, the project entails constructing new nine-foot sidewalks and a new center lane drainage system, as well as new landscaping, trolley stops and roadway reconstruction. Segment 2 of the project runs one mile from Lovers Lane to Strandview Avenue.
In evaluating Chris-Tel for the honor, a USF Safety Florida consultant conducted a comprehensive audit of the existing safety and health programs and practices in place, and the training provided to and completed by the project management team. The assessment also included an onsite observation and walk-through of the entire project.
