Suzie Leatherbury has joined Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) as an executive mortgage loan officer for the Naples area. Her specialties include jumbo mortgages, constructionto- permanent mortgages, and doctor mortgages.
Leatherbury has been in the banking industry for almost 30 years. She holds her Series 7 license and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Florida State University. She’s also a member of the Marco Island Area Association of Realtors (MIAAOR) and Collier Building Industry Association (CBIA). In addition, Leatherbury has served on the grant committee for the Collier County Education Foundation and as a guardian ad litem for the 20th Judicial Circuit.
Jayne Malinowski , LMCU’s vice president of regional mortgage production, says she’s excited to welcome Leatherbury to the LMCU team. “Suzi is passionate about helping those in our community finance their dream home. Her years of experience and extensive mortgage knowledge will be a great addition to LMCU.”
Leatherbury says she was drawn to LMCU because of its members-first philosophy. “LMCU is known for having great people, programs, and processes,” she says. “Their profits go back to their members, paying out higher interest rates on deposits and charging lower interest rates on loans. They’re all about the relationships with their members.”
LMCU is the largest credit union in Michigan, employing a staff of more than 1,300 and boasting more than 446,000 members. Its assets exceed $6.54 billion, with a mortgage serviced portfolio of more than $10 billion. Ten of LMCU’s 54 branch locations are in Southwest Florida.
