Stevens Construction earned four awards including Contractor of the Year at the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) Industry Awards event in November.
A panel of nationwide judges named Stevens Construction Contractor of the Year based on criteria such as the company’s achievement of goals, client relations, professional certifications and community responsibilities. This is the eighth year Stevens Construction has received this honor, having won in 2007 and in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Pursuing larger projects and diversifying project type were among Stevens Construction’s goals for 2017. In 2017, the company began its largest project to date, Gulf Coast Skilled Nursing Unit, a 75-bed, post-acute facility for Lee Health. In 2017, 58% of the contractor’s work was healthcare, 37% commercial and 5% hospitality.
Stevens won Summit Awards in several categories, including:
• Best Restaurant project for Marlins Plaza. Completed in 2018, Stevens Construction built a 14,655sf shell stucture and built out two of the nine spaces, Marlins Brewhouse and Chronic Tacos.
• Best Renovation for Specialized Veterinary Services. Stevens converted an existing 5,000sf, one-story animal hospital into an 18,589sf, twostory facility while it remained operational 24/7.
• Best Healthcare project for Lee Health. Stevens completed a 41,421sf, four-story medical office building for the healthcare system in less than a year.
