Vantage Construction Services, LLC and Castellanos Tramonte Architects have been awarded a designbuild contract for the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District’s newest fire station. Fire Station #4 will be located at 3500 S.W. Pine Island Road, east of the Matlacha drawbridge.

The Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District protects approximately 45 square miles and provides myriad services to areas including Bokeelia, Pineland, Pine Island Center, St. James City, Matlacha, Matlacha Isles and Cape Royal. Earlier this year, a review by the district’s board determined that a new station would decrease response times to local emergencies and improve Insurance Service Office (ISO) ratings.

The new fire station is being designed to incorporate the island’s architecture and reflect the personality of the community. Preliminary plans include four enclosed sleeping quarters, a community room, three bathrooms, two fire apparatus bays, a kitchen, storage and exercise rooms.

In addition to Vantage and Castellanos Tramonte, the project team includes civil engineer TDM Consulting, Inc. and environmental consultant Passarella & Associates Inc.

When completed, the building will total approximately 6,142sf with the option for future expansion. The project is expected to break ground in the first quarter of 2018.
