David DeFilippo has joined Suffolk Construction as its chief learning officer. In this role, he is responsible for leading the company’s learning, leadership and organizational development strategy, and fostering Suffolk’s innovative in-house training programs and initiatives.

With more than 20 years of experience in the learning and development field, DeFilippo has worked as a corporate leader and trainer at companies including Capital One Financial and Comast. Most recently, he worked at BNY Mellon, where he established a corporate university for the company’s 50,000+ employees worldwide. In addition to being a speaker, writer and adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania, he also serves as an executive coach at Harvard Business School.

DeFilippo has a bachelor’s degree from Union College, an M.A. from New York University and a doctorate with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a graduate of Georgetown University’s Leadership Coaching Program and mentors students in the Year Up Program and the Perkins School for the Blind.

Established in Florida in 1994, Suffolk Construction has become one of the largest construction management firms in the state. From its offices in West Palm Beach, Miami and Estero, Suffolk provides preconstruction, construction management, design-build and general contracting services to clients in the healthcare, transportation, science and technology, education, federal government and commercial sectors.

In Southwest Florida, Suffolk’s current high-profile projects include Naples Square, Aria of Longboat Key and Moorings Park at Grey Oaks. Previous notable builds include Ave Maria University’s phase-one campus, Dunbar High School and the Palm Avenue parking garage in Sarasota.
