Momentum is building for the former Murdock Village property in Port Charlotte after its recent sale from Westport Fund, LLC to Kolter Land Development, LLC. The 452 acres at S.R. 776 (El Jobean Road) and O’Donnell Boulevard, near U.S. 41, is being renamed Westport, and the 42-acre commercial and multi-family component at the entrance of S.R. 776 will be known as Commons at Westport.

To accommodate pent-up demand for multi-family housing in the area, plans are underway to develop a 300-unit apartment complex initially. More development is expected to follow, as Commons at Westport is entitled for 200,000sf of commercial space and a 150-room hotel.

Brett Low, an associate and outparcel specialist with LandQwest Commercial, has been exclusively selected to market the 42 acres of commercial frontage for sale along El Jobean Road.

Low says that the anticipated extension of O’Donnell Boulevard to connect U.S. 41 to 776, “will create convenient access through the community for residential and commercial uses alike.” He adds that with the influx of residents and location across from the Tampa Bay Rays spring training facility, the project is ideally suited for grocery, retail, financial, medical, storage and other commercial concepts.
