DeAngelis Diamond is preparing to break ground for the Punta Gorda Airport Terminal Expansion, enhancing the existing Bailey Terminal to accommodate growing passenger demand and improve operational efficiency. This $44 million investment in the future of travel is a collaboration between the Charlotte County Airport Authority, AECOM and DeAngelis Diamond.
The project is being delivered through a design-build approach, which has allowed the team to streamline communication, enhance collaboration and maintain alignment with project goals.
The expansion will add approximately 50,700sf of new space, including hold rooms, public circulation areas, restrooms and concessions. Additionally, about 28,250sf of the current Bailey Terminal will be renovated. Key project components include relocating aircraft parking positions and drainage structures, modifying the aircraft parking apron, expanding the existing terminal and support building spaces, relocating the existing TSA checkpoint, and renovating the existing checkpoint and hold rooms.
Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2025, with completion targeted for July 2027. Once finished, the enhancements will include expanded food concepts and concessions, spacious and upgraded restrooms, a new departures concourse featuring larger waiting areas, abundant natural light, Wi-Fi access, charging stations, improved public circulation space, and expanded and redesigned TSA checkpoints.
