The Real Estate Investment Society’s (REIS) Scholarship Program has received $6,300 from the annual Paul Sands Slaw Dog Invitational. The money will be added to the principal balance of the endowed The Paul Sands Memorial – REIS Scholarship Fund at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU).

REIS established the scholarship program to encourage and support students interested in commercial real estate and related professions. A permanent scholarship fund with FGCU was established in 1999 with a $10,000 endowment. In 2011 it was named in memory of REIS member and governor Paul Sands. A portion of proceeds from his namesake golf tournament is added to the scholarship fund each year.

Also, in 2006 REIS established the REIS Scholarship Foundation, a not-forprofit, registered 501(c) 3 corporation that provides an opportunity to make charitable donations for college scholarships. Under REIS’s management, 100% of donations are awarded as scholarships.

This year, REIS is awarding three $2,500 scholarships and is seeking donations to fund a fourth. To make a donation or for more information, please contact Mark Morris, REIS scholarship chairman, at 239-671-2276.
