The Lee County Commission has approved the development of a 16.5-acre driving range and an adjacent stormwater pond into a 140,000sf retail center, Daniels Marketplace.

Located at the northwest intersection of Daniels Parkway and Ben C. Pratt/Six Mile Cypress Parkway in south Fort Myers, the completed development will include a 45,000sf Whole Foods Market and 95,000sf of fastcasual restaurants and boutique retail.

This is the sixth Florida retail center for project developer S.J. Collins Enterprises, based in Fairburn, Georgia. Nationwide, the firm is working on 18 shopping centers that are anchored by Whole Foods Markets or Whole Foods 365 stores.

Plans for Daniels Marketplace include open space, high-end architecture, native landscaping and options for area residents to either walk or bike to the retail hub. The developer will also relocate the existing lake on Daniels Parkway to provide a buffer between the retail center and its residential neighbors.

Construction is slated to begin by or before early 2017, with an expected opening in the summer of 2018.
